So last night Patrick and I decided to clean out part of our freezer, and we found our wedding cake (1 year and 3 1/2 months later) We didn't wrap it or seal it in anyway....and honestly, it LOOKED just fine, however, there were some blue mold spots that warned us that it was probably bad. Patrick leaned over to me and made the comment that it was neat to see the cut we made over a year ago and how far our lives together have come.
Then, we touched the cake and realized it was actually fossilized. Needless to say we did not eat any of it, but we thought it'd be nice to share a picture of how nicely it kept:) and now it's in the garbage. But we have fond memories of that day for sure. I'm sure at some later date I'll post some of those pictures too.

Wow, love the symbolism!
i'm not really into symbolism, or really anything that makes people even slightly nostalgic, however, i think it's fascinating that your cake was fossilized. that's sweet. i hope our cake is not fossilized, because i want to eat it.
i might be the only bride in the history of the world that saved the cake because she wanted to eat it and not because of the tradition.
