Funny thing about cake

So last night Patrick and I decided to clean out part of our freezer, and we found our wedding cake (1 year and 3 1/2 months later) We didn't wrap it or seal it in anyway....and honestly, it LOOKED just fine, however, there were some blue mold spots that warned us that it was probably bad. Patrick leaned over to me and made the comment that it was neat to see the cut we made over a year ago and how far our lives together have come.

Then, we touched the cake and realized it was actually fossilized. Needless to say we did not eat any of it, but we thought it'd be nice to share a picture of how nicely it kept:) and now it's in the garbage. But we have fond memories of that day for sure. I'm sure at some later date I'll post some of those pictures too.

What a Handy Husband I have....

Not to brag or anything, but lookie what my husband did. It's our gorgeous new baby door. It's not really like a doggie door for babies or anything, it's just the new door and frame to our baby's room. I have to admit I was very skeptical at first, as I assume most wives would be, but it actually looks better than all the other doors in our house. However, we are not going to bust them all out and replace them (we'll let the contractors do that when we add on to our house-for one reason only, TIME) I just have to brag a bit that he cleaned up as he went, ie the shop vac. and he even put on the first coat of paint (I ended up finishing it because I got impatient, but I like to just think of that as team work:)

So, if anyone is needing anything busted out and replaced at their home and they don't have any time restraints, please give my wonderful husband a call:)

Newest Accessories

So, since we don't have cute pictures of the baby to post yet, here are some fun ones of Patrick and I with our new baby stroller. We actually have 2 other friends that are having babies this year too that have the same stroller....funny huh? I guess we all just have good taste.

And as you can see, I didn't just stop at putting the stroller together, I also decided to hang some picture frames on the wall. (Mom, what do you think?) Hopefully soon we will be able to fill those frames with pictues of our little angel and our family and friends:) Things are starting to finally come together completly in the house....I'm starting to get that "I need to clean" sensation. I may start spending evenings cleaning floorboards before too long.....not that our baby is even going to be near them when he/she comes home, but one never knows.
Oh, and funny quick story about the dresser above. This was a dresser that Patrick and his brothers used when they were little, I just re-finished it. However, on the right side, facing the wall it is covered in Star Wars stickers, yes.....Star Wars the originals. I thought that was so cute, I couldn't paint over them, so our baby will one day see where daddy and his brothers used to decorate their furniture.
Well, more pictures of the door/room at it's final stages "pre-baby occupancy" will be coming soon.

Baby Belly

Okay, so mainly this picture is for people who don't see me everyday......this was taken today, so it's up to date with how large I'm getting:) I'm using the one with my head cut off because I'm having a bad hair day:) you all know how that goes.

It's been a busy morning...

Yesterday, on my day off I tried to be as productive as possible (before my massage and pedicure- I know, I know, it's a hard life, heheh). It was pre-baby pamper day for Katie. However, I was able to do some work.... And below is a picture of one of the 3 items I was able to put together for the baby. I'm telling you though, those directions they put in the package are not clear, so I'm sure if there was a fly on the wall watching me, it was laughing it's rear off!!!! I nearly threw in the towel with the stroller/travel system. Half of the pictures didn't even look like the actual items, but thankfully I perservered and finally got it all put together. Here's the cute swing.....(I love polka dots, have I mentioned that)

Picture of the stroller and car seat to come (for you Mom).

Getting the Room Ready

Well, the adventure begins......(or began 8 months ago) First things first, we still have to sand and paint the beautiful new door Patrick installed for baby. It no longer sounds like a gunshot going off when you open or close the door. yea! I'd also like to add that since this picture was taken, he has re-plastered around the door so it's a bit more normal looking than it seems here.

These are some pictures of the baby's room with the bedding and decorations Great Aunt Marsha did for Baby Murphy. How cute huh? She's definitely got the gift......excuse the mess of things piled on the floor and dresser.

There will be many more pictures to come, I'm sure....since I finally figured out how to get them from the camera to the computer:) yea! And if I really put my mind to it, one day there will be video clips.....let the ooohs and ahhhs come rolling in.

And as you can see, we still have some work to do to get things up on the bare walls, but it's all coming together.
