caualty #2

So Ainsley was having a rough day already, she had her 2 year old dr. check up and had to get a flu shot.  girl wasn't happy about the needle.  She was playing upstairs with Finn and I, and being so cute, when she screamed bloody murder and ran over to me crying.  I picked her up instinctively wanting her to be comforted when she raised up her foot for me to kiss (she makes me kiss all boo boos), when I saw the blood.  She had gashed her foot pretty badly.  I made sure she was okay and ran over to see what she had cut it on (so Finn couldn't cut something too).....you'll see what it was at the end of the post. (I feel bad I took a picture while she looked so upset, but I wanted it documented)
I looked at it and cleaned it with alcohol (girl didn't like that) and did my momma doctor bandage job.  I think I did pretty well.  What do you think?
She's a good patient, she watched and listened to each step as I told her what I was doing.  She stayed pretty calm and even took care of herself by putting "cold cookie" on her poor foot.
Just a few minutes after the bandaid went on she was all better.  She kept saying "it's scary, it's scary" so I took patrick's advice and just reassured her she was a "tough girl" and all was well.
The sneaky owl and his razor talons did the damage.  He was laying upside down on the ground under  another soft toy...he broke through that and her heel.  (mom: I know you bought this for Finn, no worries, she really is okay, don't feel bad like I know you will want to.)

Big Girl is 2!!!!

She couldn't believe the big day was here! (Sunday December 18th)
She was unsure about the candles until she realized she got to blow them out, and girl did she try....she ended up blowing her bangs out of her face more than putting the candles out, but it was a good effort.
She delicately liked off the icing just like last year.....
This year...same hand gestures just more hair and personality! Same beautiful blue eyes.
Cousin Kiera and Cousin Delaney helped her with the wrapping paper (she wasn't sure about ripping it at first).
What a great family and friends we have to share this great celebration with us.  (notice Finn playing the iPad-that's what he did the whole party, that kid loves his video games-mostly educational:)
Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday Dear Ainsley, Happy Birthday to you.  We love you so much.  You are fun, happy and always up for a great adventure.....I hope you never change:)

Soul sister 2.0

Ainsley is also a fan of Justin Bieber. I just caught her singing "baby, baby, baby, ohhh". (don't ask why I know that's a Bieber song)

Cute pic

The kids playing iPad nicely together. Ainsley got off the couch to "cheese" for me.

Soul sister

I'm not making this up... Ainsley started singing Adele's "someone like you" in the car. I was jamming to my melancholy song and all of a sudden Ainsley's super high pitched angel voice broke in and joined Adele in her soulful rendition. It was pretty awesome. Guess I listen to Adele more than I thought if Ainsley has caught onto the words.

Big girl adventures, big brother too.

Ainsley is getting ready to turn 2! She has so much personality, and we love it.

She definitely likes to steal daddy's big cup of soda (water)

She also is somewhat addicted to ketchup. She will dip anything in it, including fruit. Gross or delicious.

Or she will just eat it straight out of the container.

She and Finn went to the dentist for the first time (not daddy, but our friend Sarah who's the best pedidontist around). No cavities! Yay, but lots of wiggling and whining- even though they are used to daddy priding around there were still some dramatics. Finn wore himself out. This is straight out of the car before lunch and a nap afterwards.

Ainsley got her first bug girl present. My mom and sister came over and did a big girl makeover for Ainsley. She's still in her crib until we "have" to move her, for safety and convenience sake. But she lives pretending she sleeps in the big girl bed.

Her eyes lit up. She was so excited. She also was a bit confused with the owls and kept calling them chickens.

Then today we had bumper cars indoors. Yes the two of them love these two cars! We have drive in movie afternoons a lot around here lately. (I have no idea what Ainsley is doing-guttural yowl?)

Mischief

Ainsley has paid good attention to Patrick shaving in the morning, too much attention. The other day while I was putting away laundry she snuck into our bathroom and tried it herself. The result was blood everywhere, Ainsley laughing (seriously?) me screaming and crying and Finn just looking at me like I was nuts. She was "okay" but as I've learned head wounds bleed like crazy. I got her to sit still while I cleaned her up and got a bandage on it (go nurse mommy), no stitches needed but it's still healing. I thought girls were supposed to be the careful ones?

She got to go play with cousin Liam today too. He wore her out and she took the first nap she's had in about a week:) yes they are both crammed under there!?kids.

Baby Henry was so sweet and quiet.

Finn did some messy play the other day and loved it!

Patrick and I got out for a night at a fundraiser. Very fun!!! Interesting story about bidding on a Paris trip-ask if you want the embarrassing details:) overall a very fun night raising money and awareness for Down Syndrome.

Thanksgiving

I got up and did the Kirkwood/Webster turkey day run. (only the 3 mile, I needed to conserve energy for eating:)

Then we headed over to papa Bob's and Grandma Lolly's for lunch. Ainsley found a new love in Cranberry sauce. She and her uncle Dan are the only two who like it-so she dug in.

Patrick and Finn enjoyed the meal too. Finn ate his keto-pancake and strawberries and then got to play with my iphone while we all finished. He was such a good boy, so patient. And this is his serious look because he wanted my phone to play games.

Cousin Liam (2.75) refused to smile but I think it's because we were all trying to get him to eat. He is known as Ainsley's partner in anarchy. When these two get around each other they simply can't run fast enough or scream loud enough:) he looks innocent here, but don't be fooled.

This is cousin Delaney (5), Ainsley, and cousin Kiera (7). They all wore their hello kitty for the grandkids pic. Ainsley adores these girls. Seriously. As soon as they came through the door Ainsley dropped Liam like a bad habit and trailed after them like a little poodle. But no worried Liam found his way into the fold:)

Here are the best and funniest grandkids photos.
(we told Ainsley to try to look bored)

also the baby boy in front is baby Henry (5 mo). He was busy during lunch smearing corn all over his face.

Singing if you're happy and you know it shout hooray.

Finn getting restless.

Ainsley acting really bored.

Ainsley showing her good side:)

Overall a really great time with the family. Off to my parent's tomorrow.

Team spirit

Just a little Mizzou spirit in our house lately!

Also, cute story.

Ainsley ran to the front window this morning after Patrick left for work. She was banging on the window shouting "paatrrk" -guess she was wanting him to come back:) We need to work on calling him daddy not paatrrk:)

Happy Halloween 2011

Well we had a quite fun Halloween here.  We skipped trick-or-treating and went up to Frontenac Pottery Barn to visit Mema (my mom), and then drove home just in time for bed.  No tears over missed candy, and everyone was happy.

Yes, I am that mom that refuses to give her kids candy.  I promise I do not judge anyone for giving their kids candy.  Remember I am married to a dentist and candy is somewhat a taboo in our house (unless it's the adults eating it).  But since Finn can't have candy because of his diet and also because I'm convinced that if Ainsley ate candy, she wouldn't sleep for two days straight, we passed on trick-or-treating.

We still had fun handing out candy (king sized reese peanut butter cups), yes you want to come to our house, we don't eat it, but we sure do love to give it out:) and we also had fun dressing up.  Ainsley is a park ranger-what Finn was at age 2, and Finn was Buzz Lightyear.
Don't let the smile fool you, she will make sure you tie up your food and put out your campfire correctly!  She likes to think of herself as Smokey the Bear's assistant (like vanna of the forest)

 His best Buzz impression, hmmmm?
 cheese?!
this is the best cheese from Ainsley, I think I was a second or two late for Finn's true cheese.
..."to infinity and beyond." with jello:)

One last cheese for the camera.....hope you had fun trick-or-treating......until next year.
